Black Gold: Irabura The Odyssey
To launch the "Black Gold" collection under the theme of "Irabura: The Odyssey," crafting a visually arresting short film that celebrates the intersection of ancestral African heritage and modern luxury jewelry.
Project overview
With "Irabura: The Odyssey," we refused to make just another jewelry catalog video; we created an origin story. Focusing on an African man and woman, the narrative acts as a poetic journey—an odyssey—that explores the profound relationship between the wearer and their adornments. We utilized heavy shadows, deep contrast, and shimmering, metallic specular highlights to make the gold practically leap off the screen. By framing the jewelry against rich, glowing skin tones, every shot feels regal, powerful, and deeply mystical. It’s a masterclass in how light, texture, and heritage can transform a product into an artifact.
Objectives
- Launch the "Black Gold" collection by positioning Irabura as a premier, heritage-rich African luxury brand.
- Showcase the intricate craftsmanship, textures, and brilliance of the jewelry pieces against deeply melanated skin.
- Elevate traditional jewelry advertising into an avant-garde, narrative-driven visual odyssey.
Scope of work
A highly controlled, conceptual studio and location shoot. Required specialized macro cinematography for extreme close-ups of the jewelry, chiaroscuro (high-contrast) lighting design, bespoke Afro-futurist wardrobe styling, and meticulous post-production color science to perfect the contrast between deep blacks and gleaming gold.
